Lorna is a graduate of Texas Woman’s University with a master’s in physical therapy. She and her husband immediately moved to Boise where she has practiced for the past 28 years. Her experience with multiple patient types in varied treatment environments contributes to her strength as a PRN therapist. She is comfortable in a variety of treatment settings from acute hospitals, SNF’s, and outpatient clinics and is skilled in applying a wide variety of treatment interventions with young adults to geriatric clients.
Lorna is highly skilled in maximizing the environment and equipment available to achieve maximal outcomes, patient participation, and follow through. She is acutely aware of the importance of the therapist/patient connection and is committed to delivering quality fill-in coverage while preserving the relationship between the patient and the regular treating therapist. Her interest in geriatrics led her to obtain her geriatric clinical specialist certification through the APTA in 1997 and she offers weekend courses throughout the United States on strength training the older adult.
She has been involved in the advancement of the physical therapy profession in Idaho where she has served in various capacities in state leadership, including president of the Idaho American Physical Therapy Association. She is the recipient of the J. Perry Silver Award in 2001 given for outstanding service to the field of physical therapy in Idaho. She will teaching a course on physical activity and aging at BSU in the fall and has plans to pursue her tDPT in Jan ’08.
